I’ve tried many domain auctions & marketplaces. Buying I have had great success at both Flippa & Sedo. Expired domains, a few good ones at NameCheap.com I used to buy at Expired/Dropped domains, and other sites. But I can find some reasonably good ones that are expiring. I recently tried GoDaddy, but I’m not such a big fan. Domains with backlinks sell. The transactions are slow, and you may not get seen. Resulting in a low auction price. You can feature your domain auction listing on the home page at cost. They will be ending 17th May 2024. Afternic has taken over GoDaddy Auctions. And the commission is high. I think that I will be staying with Sedo, Above, & Namecheap.com, at least for now.

How To Price Your Domains

Unless you see trending or similar sales at a higher price, I would advise you to start your auctions at a low-medium price, and BIN medium. There’s no point hanging on to domains which people would buy, if they were priced a little bit cheaper. Domains can sell from anywhere between $100-$10,000+ depending on how you pick your domains, and market your brand. If your portfolio is full of low quality domains, you will not get the traffic or reputation you’re seeking. However, if your domains are fairly priced/high quality domains, you’ll always do well.

Which Domains To Buy?

While Brand Bucket focus on .com and .ly .net and online are still pretty popular. AI domains also sell really well. IO and .CO are other options. .DE is becoming increasingly popular, in addition to .UK. With so many more domain extensions out there, there’s no way to predict how they’ll perform in the long run. It’s a good idea to spread your options a little. A few people made huge profits from one word .xyz domains (example). New domain extensions are definitely worth testing out (one word names). Handshake domains are available at Namecheap.com at very reasonable prices (special offers). .Irish will be increasing in popularity very soon. Watch out for that one, it’s taken a few years, but people are finally using it.

How much should you invest in domain names?

For a decent return or quick sale, I would advise spending a minimum of $500-$5,000. You will then have a good chance of reselling the domain. If investing in valuable domain names, please do research and blacklisting checks beforehand. And if you are new to this, it’s best to seek an expert opinion before you place a bid. But, if something seems great, and you’ve fully researched it, then trust your instincts.

How To Buy Domain Names

Look out for good expired domains or low priced auctions in Flippa, Above, Namecheap & Sedo. And make sure you sell them at a fair price. I always keep my domains priced low, that way a company can buy back their domain at a reasonable cost. Once 4-6 weeks have passed, I will increase the price of the domain, to what I think it’s worth, and park the domain, or develop it. I try to stick to my budget, which is about $1,000. I will therefore make a profit every month, if I price my names correctly. I can buy domains and sell them on immediately. Domain renewals need to be planned for a month in advance.
